I've been to 15 countries and counting. My favorite places are in Scandinavia: Iceland, and Norway in particular. The fjords of Norway are particularly striking, as is Thingvellir National Forest in Iceland. The runestones in Sweden were the initial impetus for travelling to Scandinavia. Aside from the ones in Uppsala, the runestones were rather difficult to find, as there were no clear guides or maps when I went. Still, the search made the whole adventure that much more exciting. When I finally found them - they were amazing. Another gem was the Vikingskipshuset in Norway where archaelogists have recovered medieval Norse trade and war ships.
